Good morning Ledgers! A raccoon broke into a Virginia liquor store last weekend, smashed several bottles on the bottom shelf, and helped himself. And get this. . . animal control found him face down on the floor next to the toilet (true story)!
A Richmond-based print-on-demand company called Bonfire noticed and has already made “Trashed Panda” shirts. As we write this, the shirts have only been available for about an hour and they’ve already sold 160 – raising $1,600 for the local animal shelter.
I am thankful for all of you.

Delta Community Choir Presents Winter Concert “Welcome In!”

Delta Community Choir will present its winter concert, “Welcome In!” on Sunday, December 21 at 3 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 7910 E. St. Joseph Highway, Delta Township.
Led by music director Zach Everly and accompanist Christine English, the 58-voice Delta Community Choir will “Welcome In” the holiday season with a repertoire of traditional carols, gospel hymns, music from the movies, and even some holiday humor.
In keeping with Delta Community Choir’s mission of “Building Community Through Song,” there will be no admission fee for the concert.
Instead, freewill monetary donations will be accepted to support Mitten Misfits Farm Sanctuary, which provides a forever home to nearly 100 rescued farm animals.
Founded by Victoria Worthy, the sanctuary cares for horses, goats, sheep, donkeys, pigs, cows, and more, while providing education and outreach to the community.
More than 80 volunteers help ensure that the animals live out the rest of their lives treated with respect and kindness.
This collaboration benefits both the sanctuary animals and those who interact with them.
“Our choir is excited to highlight the work being done by Mitten Misfits Farm Sanctuary,” said Everly. “So much holiday imagery includes farm animals at the manger and in the fields on Christmas night. This is the perfect collaboration for our holiday concert. We welcome everyone to celebrate the season and help our friends at Mitten Misfits.”

Grand Ledge Library's Christmas Workshop Was Packed—And We've Got the Story

If you happened to swing by the Grand Ledge Library recently, you might've noticed something unusual: the place was absolutely bursting at the seams with holiday cheer, paint brushes, and more than a few wobbly snowmen.
Their Christmas Sign Painting workshop drew quite the crowd—we're talking kids, parents, grandparents, and enough festive energy to power Santa's sleigh. There were creative masterpieces, a few happy accidents (someone may or may not have painted their sleeve), and the kind of laughter that reminds you why community events matter.
Participant Nora Gross summed it up pretty well: "Thank you! I had so much fun."
Want the full scoop on what went down? We've got all the details, including why this wasn't just another craft night and what makes the Grand Ledge Library such a community treasure. Read the full story here to see what you missed—and why you'll want to catch the next one.

Get Your Holiday Cheer Ready: Night Lights Christmas Parade is Coming!
Mark your calendars, folks—one of the most magical nights of the year is just around the corner!
The Annual Night Lights Christmas Parade returns to downtown Grand Ledge on Friday, December 5, 2025, and it's shaping up to be an evening you won't want to miss.
The Main Event
The parade kicks off at 7:00 PM sharp from the Grand Ledge Fire Department (500 N Clinton St) and makes its way down Bridge Street to Scott Street.
Expect dazzling lights, festive music, marching bands, and—drumroll please—Santa himself riding in on a bright red fire truck. If that doesn't get you in the holiday spirit, we don't know what will!
But Wait, There's More!
Here's the thing: the parade is just the grand finale.
The festivities actually start way earlier in the evening, giving you plenty of time to soak up all that small-town Christmas magic.
Here's your game plan:
Starting at 5:00 PM:
Holiday activities at the Grand Ledge District Library (perfect for the kiddos)
Warm up with an amazing soup and salad dinner at the American Legion
Free hot chocolate at the T-Mobile T Fiber truck behind Bridge Street Plaza (because it's December in Michigan, and you're going to need it)
Gather around the cozy firepit in the Plaza
Starting at 6:00 PM:
Grand Ledge Rotary Chili Cook-off at the Opera House (competitive chili AND a good cause? Yes, please!)
More free hot chocolate at Pam's Pantry (can you ever have too much hot chocolate? We think not)
At 6:45 PM:
The official Tree Lighting ceremony in Bridge Street Plaza kicks off the main festivities
After the Parade:
Head to the Grand Ledge Opera House to visit with Santa and share your wish list
Come One, Come All
Whether you're bringing the whole family, meeting up with friends, or just looking for a reason to bundle up and enjoy the holiday season, the Night Lights Christmas Parade has something for everyone. From free hot chocolate to chili cook-offs to Santa sightings, it's the kind of evening that reminds you why community celebrations are the best celebrations.
So grab your warmest coat, round up your crew, and we'll see you downtown on December 5th. Trust us—you don't want to miss this one!
A huge thank you to all our sponsors who make this magical evening possible!
