Good morning Ledgers! Black Friday and Small Business Saturday has come and gone. And many of our local stores and shops report a successful start to the holiday shopping season.

Grand Ledge once had an unofficial “monkey escape” incident in the early 1900s when a small traveling circus passed through mid-Michigan. One of the monkeys reportedly got loose near town and caused such a stir—climbing fences and startling residents—that locals talked about it for years. While it never made national news, it became one of those “did you hear about…” stories passed around porches and shops long before social media existed.

The Newberg brothers stole the spotlight—junior Maddox dished a clutch assist to freshman Brilan that helped seal the deal. Braden James Hunter's early dunk energized the Comets, but Holt kept it close, tying the game at 55-55 with four minutes left.
