Grand Ledge MI — As more than 2 million people get ready to travel across Michigan for Thanksgiving 🦃, one local shop says now is the perfect time to give your car a little love before the big drive.
In Mulliken, the crew at Senter Family Auto Repair is already seeing a rush.
Anna Hoffman, one of the mechanics there, says the shop gets about 35% busier during Thanksgiving and Christmas week.
She says a quick checkup now could save you from headaches later.
Hoffman shares the same advice for everyone heading out:
Check your wipers, headlights, and tires before hitting the road.
Use the penny test to check your tire tread. If a penny covers the top of Lincoln’s head, your tires are still good. If you can see the top of his head, it’s time for new ones.
Pack an emergency kit with blankets and essentials, because tow trucks get overwhelmed during holiday weekends. 🚨

Neighbor Pam Redman, who’s taking her grandkids to Birch Run and Frankenmuth to enjoy the lights, says she’s getting her car looked at ahead of time.
“Then we’ll be good to go for the weekend,” she said with a smile.
Hoffman says that tiny bit of prep now can keep families safe later. “Tow trucks are going to be super busy. You never know when somebody is going to be able to get to you.”
Redman says the biggest tip is simple: enjoy the holiday. “Everybody stay safe, be careful on the roads, and have a good time.” 😊
